Subject: FW: HOME BREAK IN
I am forwarding this onto you in my address book that live in my general area. I had my home broken into today. Please be aware of all suspecious people, cars etc. I am aware and this still happened to me. They broke in through my side garage door even though it has a deadbolt!!! It is such a disturbing feeling and I am overwhelmed with emotion and feel so violated knowing that someone, whom I do not know has been in my home, rummaging through my things. Are they coming back??? Did they take note af all the things they did not take for future referance? Lawrence police said this has been happening in the Lawrence, Oaklandon and Geist area. I took pictures of the tire tracks (which are from truck) on my driveway as well as foot prints at my side door and walkway that show the tread and also sat a ruler next to one of the prints to get shoe size. These are all being submitted to the detective in hopes to have more evidence. PLEASE, cut and paste the message below to your contacts in order to get the word out as to what is happening in our area. One of my neighbors wrote and sent it out to all his contacts and I thank him SO much for doing so. Again, please be on the lookout and if you find anything suspecious, call the police! If it's innocent, the person in question will not feel inconvenienced.
EMAIL RECEIVED ABOUT CRIME IN LAWRENCE.
Hello Everyone,
Some of you that do not live near Oaklandon might not have received my last e-mail where a car was stolen a couple of days ago here in Sparrowood addition.
Now more bad news a home at 6510 Sparrowood Drive has been broken into. The punks took computers,a camcorder, flat screen, but left jewelry, they trashed the house.
It appears now that we must be on the look out of a blue or green pick up and a black car that looks like a police car with dark tinted windows. They scout the neighborhood early in the morning then hit the house or car .
Everyone needs to keep an eye open for these punks and call the police 911 have them check if it is the right car/truck if you have a chance get the plate number to be check out.
Crime is going to go up because of the economy and they need cash stay alert of whats is around you.
Thanks'
Apparently a neighbor spotted the burglars that have been terrorizing the Oaklandon area. Officers,Scott Hancock and Jack Bailey pursued the bad guys. The fleeing car was involved in an accident at Sunnyside and Hwy 67. Stolen material from homes that have been targets was recovered. A great job by all.

Thanks to the quick action of our Lawrence Police department and some alert citizens, two burglars were apprehended in the Sparrowood Addition. When a neighbor observed two black males forcing their way into a home in the Sperrowood Addition, he called the Lawrence Police department, the Police were in the area and almost immediately made the arrest. Great work on everyone's part. Two less criminals off the street . I urge all law abiding citizens to report crimes immediately. …… Dave Parnell
Because of the amount of emails we been receiving about crime, we have quit posting the information. The information is important but it's also very time consuming.
Sept-2009
LAWRENCE, Ind. — People who live in several Lawrence neighborhoods are on alert after an attempted abduction earlier this week.
A teen told police that a man tried to get her in his truck Wednesday shortly after she got off a school bus’
Steve Baker said his 15-year-old daughter encountered the man near the intersection of 75th Street and Carroll Road. The man drove up to the girl as she went to check the mailbox in front of her home, Baker said.
“She said a red truck pulled up right here beside our driveway, and she said she didn’t get a real good look at the guy,” Baker said. “She said a white male ... in his 40s or 50s — he said, ‘Get in the truck.’”
Baker said his daughter ran into the house immediately and locked the door behind her.
“We’re looking into it. We’re putting extra patrols out in the area,” said Lawrence police Sgt. Tom Ashcroft. “The township schools put an extra police officer in the area.”
Baker’s daughter said she had seen the same truck sitting nearby a couple of weeks earlier. He’s concerned that the man may be casing the neighborhood and knows when children are at their bus stops.
Baker’s daughter’s bus stop is less than a block from her home, but he doesn’t want her out there alone anymore.
“We’ve been practicing it with my daughter since she was little, so she knew what to do and did the right thing,” Baker said. “She’s OK now because of it.”
Lawrence police are looking for a smaller-model red pickup truck that has rust on it.
Police asked anyone with information to call 317-545-7575 and encouraged the use of neighborhood watch groups to circulate e-mails and flyers to get the word out.
